Matthew Ala, owner of ATI & a second generation tile installer, grew up in Medway Mass. and moved to Midlothian Va in 1994 with his family. Matthew Ala, owner of ATI & a second generation tile installer, grew up in Medway Mass. and moved to Midlothian Va in 1994 with his family. Because of his skill level, strong attention to detail, and charming nature, Matt became very well known in the home improvement industry in little time. Matt's specialties include marble showers and bathrooms, and intricate kitchen backsplashes.
Erin Ala, wife of Matt & co-owner of ATI, grew up in Yorktown Va, and moved to Chesterfield in 2001 with her family. She has always had a love for animals, and worked in the veterinary profession for many years. Soon after marrying Matt in 2014, she realized her love of design from the many discussions of Matt's various tile projects. So, in November of 2017, Erin made the tough decision to part ways with veterinary medicine and manage ATI while being a stay-at-home mom to their son, Kegan.
When the two are not designing home improvement projects, the Ala family can be found on various trails in any of our nation's National Parks. Family hikes including their 2 dogs Scout and Dill are their favorite past time. Not to mention their love of baseball. Go Red Sox!
The Ala Family's next adventures will include creating a permaculture garden sanctuary on their 10 acres in Powhatan, VA. Adding garden design and maintenance to their repertoire is the 5-10 year goal for this over-achieving family. 2020 has taught the world the true meaning of "home", and that includes the interior and exterior living spaces.
